During NBA All-Star Weekend 2019, Women Within and Nike partnered again to bring together a panel of women to share their experiences and advice with creative women of all backgrounds.
Rox Brown, a stylist, Melody Ehansi, a designer and store-owner, and Ivy Sole, a musician and record-label owner, each discussed the progression of their careers and the pressure of being female in male-driven industries.
Following the panel, style influencers Sasha Elina and Alani Figueroa hosted a vision board workshop, combining dreams with action and accountability.

Samantha Jo Alanso has made a career of uplifting others and serving her community. One of her many projects is Sock Sammy Jo, a tie-dye sock collection that grew from donating socks to those in need.
For Women Within Series VII, we were pleased to speak with Samantha about the importance of giving back and using one’s talents to uplift others. In addition to Sock Sammy Jo, Samatha created a stationary line XO SammyJo with short, empowering messages that are perfect for any occasion.
The Series VII activation included an anklet making workshop, where participants were encouraged to choose colors and patterns that carry significance. Attendees also used XO SammyJo stationary to write letters to their future selves, taking inspiration from the themes of calling, creativity, and communication. Six months after the event, each note was mailed to its author for a surprise message of encouragement.

Embrace the Women Within co-hosted a panel event with CNK Daily to highlight women who are trend-setters in digital spaces. CNK Daily is a popular blog and Instagram page dedicated to covering women’s sneakers, streetwear, and events.
The panel featured Channing Beumer, founder of CNK Daily, Melissa Chanel, influencer and founder of Kicks and Fros, and Astasia Williams, former social media content coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. Channing, Melissa, and Astasia each spoke about the impact of sneakers and how women can carve their own space in sneaker culture.
A sock customization activation followed the panel, allowing attendees to express their creativity and produce socks equally as cool as their kicks. All women in attendance were allowed to purchase the Air Jordan 4 ‘Bred’ early in partnership with Social Status Charlotte.
